La Canna indica 'Red' è una pianta erbacea perenne tuberosa. Ha fusti eretti, alti fino a 1,8 metri, e grandi foglie lanceolate color porpora scuro. Da giugno a settembre ha vistosi fiori color rosso. Si coltiva in terreno sempre umido o leggermente coperto d'acqua, in posizione soleggiata o di mezz'ombra su terreno neutro; viene usata anche come pianta da fitodepurazione nelle zone temperate con inverni miti. Pianta semi- rustica che non teme il gelo, sopporta temperature invernali fino a - 5 °C. Gli accostamenti preferiti sono Miscanthus, Rudbeckia, Pennisetum,  Gaura, Solidago e Verbena Bonariensis.

La pianta è in vaso di 17 cm di diametro.
